2024 Forney Crime Control & Prevention District referendum.
Developed with the input of citizens from across our community to increase funding for public safety in every part of our city.
“The proposed Forney Crime Control & Prevention District referendum is the result of extensive planning and coordination with our police department, involved families, and business leaders to fund the long-term public safety programs for every neighborhood in our rapidly growing community.
If approved by voters, there will be no increase in our sales tax rate. Instead, the city will reallocate 25% of our current sales tax funds that go to economic development efforts – much of it paid for by visitors shopping and dining in our city – to pay for new police officers, increased patrols, crime prevention initiatives, gang intervention programs, and updated law enforcement technology.
This reallocation of a portion of sales tax revenue to law enforcement efforts will also free up funds in our general revenue funds that could be used in the future, based on the input of our community, to improve roads, parks, fire response efforts, or property tax rate reductions.
Please have your say on the future of crime prevention and public safety in our special city. The election is on November 5, the same day as the Presidential election. I hope to see you at the polls!”
