The facts about the Forney Crime Control & Prevention Referendum:
More police officers. Shorter response times. Focus on juvenile crime.
New crime fighting technology. No tax rate increase.

Developed with the input of Forney citizens.

The Crime Control & Prevention Referendum (CCPD) was developed with the valuable input of residents from every part of our growing city. For many months, the police chief and city staff listened to the direction of young families, senior citizens, community leaders, police officers, and business owners to develop a community-driven plan to prioritize funding for public safety efforts and initiatives that did not increase our sales or property tax rates.

Hire & retain more professional police officers.

The additional revenue that would be provided with voter approval of the CCPD would allow the city to hire new police officers to meet the demands of one of the fastest-growing communities in Texas and retain our veteran law enforcement leaders who have established community-policing relationships with neighborhood leaders.

Increase neighborhood patrols to reduce response times.

In response to concerns over the potential impact of big-city crime issues on our families, schools, and businesses, the CCPD will provide funds needed to increase proactive patrols in every neighborhood in Forney, grow community outreach efforts, and reduce response times in emergency situations.

Protect children & reduce juvenile crime.

One of the leading concerns voiced by citizens who helped develop plans for the CCPD was protecting children from violent crime – and this starts with programs that reduce juvenile crime. The funds from the CCPD will give the police department additional tools, resources, and new officers to implement new crime-fighting and intervention efforts that keep our children and teenagers safe and on the right path.

Enhance proven crime fighting & prevention programs.

Looking at best practices from police departments across Texas, the CCPD will provide Forney law enforcement professionals and detectives with the funding to implement tough-on-crime measures and advance investigative efforts to stop violent crime, theft, juvenile crime, and gang activity before it happens.

Purchase new police equipment & technology.

As crime prevention efforts continue to evolve, so does the need for innovative technology required by police officers and detectives. The CCPD would allow the Forney police department to purchase new equipment, such as radios, computers, investigative software, traffic safety equipment, bulletproof vests, and modern patrol cards.
